Add chainage markers
Chainage markers (PK) allow the position of activities along the project to be identified in the Time-Location view.
They are one of the key elements for reading a Time-Location schedule, as they allow the location of the works to be quickly identified.
Chainage markers are added through a distance line of type Text in the Distance axis tab.
Choose the displayed value
The Displayed value field allows you to define the type of marker that will appear on the distance axis.
Several formats can be used, for example:
- meters
- hectometers
- kilometers
- kilometric format (km+000)
The choice of format generally depends on project practices and the desired level of precision.
Define the display interval
The Interval every parameter defines the frequency of marker display.
For example:
- 1 km to display a marker every kilometre
- 500 m for a more detailed marker spacing
- 100 m for a very precise display
A smaller interval increases precision but may also visually clutter the schedule.
Define the origin of the markers
The From field allows you to define the origin of the first marker displayed on the distance axis.
For example:
- 0 km to start at the beginning of the project
- 1 km to offset the markers
- a specific chainage if the project does not start at zero
This allows the display to be aligned with the actual project chainage reference system.
Text formatting
Formatting options allow the appearance of the chainage markers to be adjusted.
You can define:
- the font
- the text size
- the colour
- the line height
These parameters ensure good readability of the markers in the Time-Location view.
Text position
The Text position parameter allows the position of the marker relative to the line to be defined.
Depending on the view configuration, the text can be displayed:
- on the left
- in the centre
- on the right
Text rotation can also be enabled if needed.
Background colour
A background colour can be applied to the line to improve marker readability.
This option is particularly useful when several distance lines are displayed in the view.
